"need you" is Emily's debut single from her upcoming debut EP, "the diary," which is set to be released on June 21, 2024. The song features a soft, melancholic melody and lush harmonies. Adversity is often considered the cornerstone of character development, but in this case, adversity revealed an ugly, one-sided character of the writer's desire. The listener is left to imagine the reason for staying in the relationship. Perhaps it's insecurity or the blindness that comes with loving someone too much.
